Aquarium Desk Lamp

Now, I’ve seen aquariums in some weird places (note: aquarium toilet, aquarium sink, aquarium backsplash), but a desk lamp? Do you really need to see fish floating in the same light you’re using to do your homework? It seems like the fish would get a little hot, but maybe it’s a weak bulb–nothing stronger than what usually comes in a fish tank, I’d hope. I suppose it’s a conversation piece. Anyway, the lamp is available from Amazon for $30, which includes lamp, fish, gravel, dechlorinator, and plant:
Track lighting is effective in rooms such as the kitchen or dining room, where you want spot lighting on the food, but some people just buy any old lamps from Ikea or wherever (not that I don’t love Ikea). There’s no need to be boring with your track lighting. In fact, you can find companies making specialty lamps of all different kinds. Yes, even bumble bees. This fully adjustable fixture has a chrome finish and takes a 20 watt bulb. This bumble bee, and other lamps (some purely functional, some whimsical–there’s a dragonfly too) are available from
Not being a lamp expert (despite my insistence on creating a blog about lighting), I’m not quite sure what fused glass refers to in lighting terms, but I like the pretty colors on this lamp. (Yes, I can hear your estimate of my IQ plummeting to the floor.) I guess fused glass just means something like the chips of colorful glass are fused into the base color. That’s what I’m going with anyway. The “Pebbles” wall sconce is part of Meyda Tiffany’s work and it’s available from the BedBathStore.com for $240. The color is sure to brighten up your hallway, bathroom, or anywhere you place this lamp.
